Canyonlands National Park is celebrating its 50th anniversary during 2014 with special events happening throughout the year.

In Moab, take part in the main events for Canyonlands 50th on September 11th and 13th.

On September 12th, join the Friends of Arches and Canyonlands Parks in celebrating 50 years of inspiration, solitude and adventure at this special place known as Canyonlands with a special Commemoration Ceremony and Dinner in the Needles District.


On September 12, 1964 President Lyndon B. Johnson signed legislation creating of one of American’s most spectacular national parks, Canyonlands National Park.

The Friends of Arches and Canyonlands Parks joined by the National Park Service will be celebrating Canyonlands National Park’s 50th anniversary .

Consider this the time to be inspired by the vast wilderness character of Canyonlands, and enjoy the solitude and adventure it offers. Join us in the celebration.
